All of the groups had some form of writing or record keeping. The Aztec had heiroglyphs just like Egypt, but their's were a little different. The Aztec actually had an alphabet and ways of keeping record. The Spanish destroyed most of their glyphs when they came though. The Aztec had professional scribes, and they also trained scribes. The type of writing they used was called Logophonetic. The language that the Aztec spoke was called Nahuatl. It was also the language of the majority of the people in Central Mexico. As you can probably tell the Aztec had a lot more heiroglyphs than that, but they have not been translated. It my take days, weeks, months, or even years to figure out what these heiroglyphs mean, but archeologists will find out what they mean, no matter how long it takes.
